Maybe the greatest Grateful jam ever!
Help on the way / Slipnot
I know most of this and I combine chords/melody/riffs for a fuller sound in the trio setting.

Guitar, Bass, & Drums: An Unusual jazz trio?

I came across this forum thread looking for guitar trios and it occurred to me that it is actually a rather uncommon arrangement.  And... I might add a tad tricky to pull off.

Guitar/Bass/Drum Trios - Thoughts & Recommendations?
No, not the Jimi Hendrix Experience or Cream (tho' I love those too). I'm talking about JAZZ trios made up of guitar, bass and drums.  Here's why I'm bringing it up: Last night, I was listening to Jim Hall's Live record (A&M Horizon, 1975). I've always really, really liked this record. And, as usual, it proceeds to knock my socks off. I couldn't help but notice how wonderfully naked Hall's guitar sounded in the context of a trio. No horns or pianos to get in the way. Very much like a piano trio, really. Everything's pared down to bare-bones, but it still sounds complete. So I started wondering what other records do I have with that same sort of guitar/bass/drum trio config. I guess it's not super-uncommon -- but then again, it's nowhere near as usual as, say, guitar trios with organ and drums. So I did some poking around in my LPs, CDs, and DLs.

Here's what I came up with (more than I expected!): *****************************************

John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman Lush Life

I'm not embarrassed to say that this is one of my all time favorite recordings. These lyrics by Strayhorn are so rich and the chords are dark and sweet. I picture a wealthy bachelor in the 40's drinking in a smokey nightclub in Paris. This whole album is timeless John Coltrane, Mcoy Tyner, Elvin Jones, Jimmy Garrison and Johnny Hartman! what could be better.

NAT KING COLE ROUTE 66

The ultimate classic jazz trio for an uptown jazz brunch. This flavor of jazz is a crown pleaser especially if they arn't ready for more the complex stuff that musicians like. check out the classic Nat trio stuff like straighten up and fly right, paper moon, frim fram sauce. etc...

Vandanaa Trayee - melody in 7

I love this simple melody in seven.. it  starts at 1:18. I transcribed this from C to E which sounds better on guitar. The melody's 2nd part starts at 2:00. I jam on this in Rupak taal.

Below is a demo of rupak taal. It may be a little more detail than we need so. our best bet is to get a reliable groove in 7 to pull from.
